Michael E. Abram, PhD

Dr. Michael E. Abram has over 20 years of experience in translational medicine and drug development across biologics and small molecules. He has contributed to 2 INDs, 7 NDAs, and 3 BLAs/EUAs, frequently leading both nonclinical pharmacology and clinical pharmacology on the same programs, and has authored m2.4, m2.6.2, and m2.7.2 modules across an RSV monoclonal antibody MAA and multiple HIV, HBV, and HCV antiviral NDAs.
Dr. Abram is Founder and Principal Consultant of Arctos BioPharma Solutions, advising biotech and biopharma clients on translational strategy, program readiness, and regulatory evidence generation. He was previously Senior Director and Head of Translational Medicine in the Office of the CMO at HilleVax, building the translational medicine function and leading Phase 1-3 clinical immunovirology and biomarker strategy for two norovirus VLP vaccine candidates. At AstraZeneca he was Director, Translational Medicine, Vaccines and Immune Therapies, serving as nonclinical pharmacology, translational science, and clinical virology sub-team lead on the nirsevimab (BEYFORTUS) Program Development Team and as clinical virology lead for tixagevimab/cilgavimab (EVUSHELD) and ChAdOx1. At Gilead Sciences he spent eight years across clinical virology and HIV medical sciences, directing nonclinical pharmacology and clinical virology and resistance biomarker strategies for HIV, HBV, and HCV antiviral programs.
Dr. Abram has authored 88 peer-reviewed publications and holds one patent. He completed the Advanced Course of Vaccinology (ADVAC) at the University of Geneva in 2024.
